The federal government says it won’t fund any education programs until the federal budget comes out next week.
The federal government is spending $1.1 billion this year to help the provinces fund education for young people.
But that money doesn’t come with a mandate to support education in every province.
There are also other federal programs like Canada 150 and the $1-billion Children’s Fitness Program, which aim to keep kids healthy and active.
A few provinces have also taken steps to ensure students are getting enough sleep.
Last year, for example, Newfoundland and Labrador and Labrador announced they were making it mandatory for every school to have a bed in every classroom.
Quebec has been taking steps to get young people back to school.
It introduced a mandatory 30-minute recess for young children, and it also introduced a $50 million incentive program to help provinces fund more education.
